Denon Home Speakers: 200, 400, 600 Review vs Sonos

Denon’s latest Home 200, 400 and 600 speakers are designed to compete with Sonos on the multi‑room stage. The trio plugs into the HEOS app, which lets users stream music, local radio and wired sources across any Home unit. Bluetooth and AirPlay add flexibility, while the app’s placement options tweak sound for walls or open space.

The Home 600, priced at $799, houses eight drivers and eight Class‑D amps, delivering loud, clear vocals and punchy bass. Its 17.7‑inch form factor makes it a statement for large rooms, but at half volume it can feel overkill for casual listening. The speaker maintains detail even on tracks, but its bulk demands a sizable.

The Home 400 sits between the extremes at $599. Six drivers and six Class‑D amps give it balanced sound, while its horizontal layout keeps controls accessible. It delivers vocal clarity and a low end without the distortion sometimes heard on the smaller 200, making it a versatile choice for mid‑sized rooms in the living.

Across the lineup, the HEOS app lacks Sonos’ Trueplay but compensates with its placement prompts and adjustable audio quality. Users can pair speakers in stereo, use Quick Select buttons, or trigger voice assistants directly. While the 200 offers a footprint, the 400 and 600 provide scalable power, proving Denon a serious alternative for home audio.
