Bose and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of nearly 670,000 lithium-ion battery packs for the S1 Pro and S1 Pro+ portable PA speakers. About 635,000 units were sold in the United States and 35,400 in Canada from December 2017 through July 2026. The packs can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards. Bose has received seven reports of batteries melting, smoking, or catching fire, including six cases of property damage; no injuries have been reported.

The affected battery packs were included with speakers priced around $700 and sold separately for $100–$160 at Bose, Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, and other retailers. To check if a pack is recalled, remove the battery and locate its 17-digit serial number. If the serial starts with 083723, 078352, 084105, 078591, 078592, 084106, or 086409, owners should register for a free replacement on Bose's recall page. The speakers can still be used on AC power while waiting.

Do not throw recalled lithium-ion batteries in household trash. Contact your local hazardous waste center for safe disposal. Bose provides detailed instructions on its recall site. The S1 Pro+ also supports a wireless microphone and instrument transmitter, a separate $159 purchase.
