Blackmagic Design has rolled out version 3.3 of its free Blackmagic Camera app, adding an Apple Watch companion that lets vlogger‑soloists start recording, monitor video, and switch LUTs from their wrist. The update targets creators who lack on‑set crews but still demand professional‑grade controls.

The app now supports 10‑bit ProRes 422 Log capture, three‑mode digital stabilization—including an “Extreme” mode that crops to counter severe shake—and full manual settings for shutter, ISO, and white balance. Users can also shoot ProRes RAW on iPhone 17 Pro models when paired with a fast USB‑C SSD.

Beyond the Watch interface, 3.3 introduces ATEM Mini integration via a $420 ProDock, allowing remote control of iPhone footage in live‑stream setups. With scopes, LUTs, and a vertical frame guide, the app turns any iPhone into a studio‑grade camera, making it a compelling, zero‑cost alternative to paid apps.
