Apple is bringing its touchscreen MacBook to market sooner than expected, skipping the M6 chip generation entirely. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the new 14-inch and 16-inch models will launch with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips instead.

The touchscreen laptops are still set for a late 2026 to early 2027 release window. M7 chip versions are already in advanced testing and could arrive by the end of 2027, according to Gurman's sources.

Beyond the touch display, these MacBooks will feature Dynamic Island interface from the iPhone, an OLED screen, and updated industrial design. The M7 chip is expected in early 2027, followed by M7 Pro and Max variants.

Apple is clearly accelerating its laptop innovation cycle with this touchscreen debut, bringing iPhone interface elements to its professional laptop line.
