Anbernic is set to release the RG SP, a new handheld designed as a modern interpretation of the iconic Game Boy Advance SP. This upcoming device follows the RG 35XXSP and RG 34XXSP, aiming for a more refined design that closely mirrors the original GBA SP.

The RG SP features a refreshed chassis with 90 percent new custom-molded parts, including improved buttons and a 10 percent thinner case. It boasts a 3.4-inch 720 x 480 IPS display, offering three times the resolution of the original GBA SP for sharper upscaled graphics. Dual hinges allow for a wider range of screen angles, and it's powered by an H700 chip with a Linux-based OS for easy ROM management.

Notably, the RG SP omits analog sticks, a design choice made to align with the original GBA SP and cater to customers requesting a more classic retro gaming experience. It retains a micro SD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. The handheld will be available in metallic silver, black, pink, and teal. While the price and release date are unconfirmed, it is anticipated to be under $100, similar to its predecessors.
