The RG 55G1, Anbernic's reimagining of the Switch Lite, goes on sale August 31 at 6AM ET/3AM PT. Available in black, indigo, and retro gray, the handheld starts at $150 and can cost up to $225 for the top model with 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a 256GB microSD card. Anbernic is offering $10 off for the first three days.

The device runs Android 14 and is designed for retro game emulation. It features a 5.5-inch 1,920 x 1,080 display, two symmetrical Hall effect joysticks, and up to eight hours of battery life. This marks Anbernic's first use of Qualcomm hardware, with the Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 chip identical to the Retroid Pocket Classic, capable of emulating up to PS2 or Wii games.

Unlike Nintendo's budget device, the RG 55G1 differentiates itself with higher resolution, Hall effect joysticks, and Qualcomm-powered performance for retro gaming enthusiasts.
