Alienware 34 QD-OLED AW3426 DW Review: Brighter, Sharper Ultrawide

Alienware's new AW3426 DW ultrawide adopts Samsung's 5-layer RGB Stripe panel, fixing the text fringing that plagued earlier QD-OLEDs while pushing standard brightness to 300 nits and peak output to 1,300 nits — a 30 percent gain. The 34-inch, 3440×1440 display also climbs to 280Hz (up from 240Hz) and meets VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500, with an anti-reflective coating that cuts glare by 30 percent. Ports remain DisplayPort 1.4, dual HDMI 2.1, USB-C and USB-A via USB-B upstream; no Thunderbolt or direct USB-C video.

In practice, the panel delivers exceptional HDR punch — explosions in *Marathon* hit with startling brightness while night maps stay inky. The 21:9 aspect ratio widens peripheral vision in *Overwatch 2*, though the shorter vertical height versus 16:9 panels (like Alienware's own 32-inch 4K QD-OLED) makes distant targets harder to spot. Text rendering is finally clean, eliminating the green fringe that annoyed some users.

At $800, the AW3426 DW costs the same as its predecessor but $500 less than the original 2021 launch price. Alienware plans a 39-inch 5K ultrawide using the same RGB Stripe panel later this year, estimated at $1,100. Buyers who can wait may find the larger model a better long-term investment, but the 34-inch remains a compelling high-refresh OLED for competitive gaming today.
