Perplexity Comet AI Browser Arrives on iPhone March 2026

Perplexity confirmed its AI-powered Comet browser will launch on iPhone on March 11, 2026. The app, already available for Mac, is now available for preorder in the App Store. An iPad version is not yet ready. This marks the first mobile expansion for the desktop-focused tool.

Comet functions like a standard browser but integrates Perplexity's AI directly into the interface. Users can ask questions about the current page, request summaries, and use the AI for shopping or scheduling. The service is free but relies on in-app purchases, with Perplexity Pro and Max subscriptions ranging from $4.99 to $200 for advanced model access.

The release comes after Apple was rumored to consider buying Perplexity to enhance Siri before striking a deal with Google for Gemini. Comet is framed as a research and learning tool, not a social media client. Its success depends on convincing iPhone users to adopt a new, subscription-based AI-powered browser over the deeply integrated Safari.
