macOS Tahoe 26 introduces refined notification controls to help users manage distracting alerts. Apple's latest operating system offers practical settings for fine-tuning when and how notifications appear on your Mac. This addresses the common problem of digital distraction while maintaining important information delivery for both work and personal use.

To access these options, navigate to System Settings and select Notifications. Within the Notification Center section, users can control preview visibility with options for Always, When Unlocked, or Never. Additional settings determine notifications during display sleep, lock states, or screen sharing. Apple Intelligence users can also enable notification summaries for better organization.

For app-specific control, scroll to Application Notifications and toggle Allow notifications on or off for each application. When enabled, users can customize alert style, time sensitivity, preview visibility, and notification badges. These comprehensive settings empower users to curate their notification experience without the complexity found in iOS, creating a more focused computing environment.
