iPad Pro 2027: Vapor Chamber Cooling, No Major Redesign

Apple fans will need to wait until early 2027 for the next iPad Pro, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The tablet won't receive a major redesign, but will reportedly gain vapor chamber cooling technology first seen in the iPhone 17 Pro. This thermal management system should help maintain performance during intensive tasks by reducing thermal throttling.

Gurman's report follows Apple's typical 18-month upgrade cycle for the iPad Pro. The current M5 model launched in October 2025, making spring 2027 a logical timeframe for the next iteration. Apple has historically reused designs across multiple generations, as seen with the slimline design introduced with the M4 chip in May 2024 that carried over to the M5 refresh.

The vapor chamber cooling represents the most significant hardware change for the upcoming model. While the external design will remain unchanged, this thermal upgrade could deliver meaningful performance improvements during extended workloads. Gurman's track record for accuracy and the consistency with other rumors about limited external updates lend credibility to this timeline and feature set.
