Apple’s next operating‑system update, iOS 27, is shaping up to bring a suite of refinements that lean heavily on the company’s newly expanded Apple Intelligence team. The move follows the hiring of Sebastiaan de With, co‑founder of the pro‑camera app Halide, whose expertise is expected to surface in a Customizable Camera app that lets users pick widgets for each mode.

Bloomberg reports iOS 27 will touch core utilities. Weather gets a new Conditions panel on its main screen, while Safari gets a fresh Start Page with four tabs for favorites, bookmarks, a reading list and history. Image Playground adds a “describe a change” option and newer models for more lifelike results. The system tab bar receives a subtle redesign.

Apple plans to re‑engineer Siri into a dedicated app that lists recent conversations and will relocate the assistant to the Dynamic Island. A new animation will appear in the island, and a swipe‑down gesture from the top will summon an AI‑powered “Search or Ask” bar. Long‑pressing that bar lets users swap between AI models, echoing recent browser‑style integrations.

Photos will gain Apple Intelligence‑powered features such as background extension and automatic enhancement, while Wallet could receive a custom pass generator hinted in leaked code. With WWDC 2026 set for June 8, developers and users can expect these refinements to arrive together, tightening Apple’s ecosystem and offering a more unified, AI‑enhanced experience.
