Apple is reshaping core iPhone apps in the upcoming iOS 27 release. The Camera app will host a new Siri mode, replacing the hidden Visual Intelligence shortcut and showing the Apple Intelligence logo on the shutter button. Users can tap this mode to identify objects, plants, art and even query the web for details, showing Apple’s intent to embed AI.

Beyond photography, the Photos app gains an Apple Intelligence Tools panel with Extend and Reframe functions that auto‑fill background content or shift perspective in spatial shots. A natural‑language edit interface is being tested, letting users describe color or lighting changes verbally. Shortcuts will also accept plain‑text prompts, generating multi‑step automations without manual scripting. These tools aim to reduce reliance on third‑party editing apps.

Wallet will let users scan QR codes or create custom passes in purple, blue or orange themes, while an AI‑driven bill‑splitting tool can turn receipt photos into Apple Cash requests. System‑wide tweaks include a unified tab bar, new keyboard slide‑up animation and expanded support for foldable iPhone layouts. Developers will get new APIs for foldable UI. The update lands at WWDC 2026, with a beta in July.
