iOS 27 Adds AI‑Powered Spatial Reframing for iPhone Photos

Apple unveiled a new photo‑editing tool called Spatial Reframing. The feature will land with the iOS 27 update slated for a fall release, letting users shift a shot’s viewpoint or angle after capture. By tapping a “reframe” button, iPhone owners can drag, zoom, and re‑compose images without reshooting.

Spatial Reframing runs on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute and on‑device spatial models, keeping processing private and swift. An Extend tool can fill missing background to straighten horizons or adjust aspect ratios, while Clean Up promises AI‑generated infill. Because the computation occurs locally, battery impact remains minimal.

The tool works with photos already stored on the device and with images captured on non‑Apple cameras, broadening its appeal beyond the iPhone ecosystem. Photographers and social‑media creators alike will appreciate the instant results, and the AI‑driven adjustments could reduce reliance on third‑party editing apps.
