Ignore iPhone 18 Pro Demand Analyst Chatter

Every year, talking heads from big banks assess iPhone preorder demand at launch. This year, they're underestimating the iPhone Duo bull in the china shop. For years, Apple's September release included a Pro and non-Pro model, with exceptions like the iPhone X and iPhone Air. The iPhone X disrupted analyst predictions when it launched a month later and blew doors off despite concerns about iPhone 8 sales.

Once again, Apple is shaking things up with the iPhone Duo launch and no iPhone 18 non-Pro in September or October. For one year, it's all-Pro and Pro market-plus. Historically, Pros dominate through Christmas, with non-Pro models surging after Christmas and crossing Pro demand by February or March. Year-over-year comparisons are worthless with so many changes from Cupertino.

Analysts on CNBC repeatedly raise concerns about longer iPhone 18 Pro sellout times, but more than 10 TV commentators haven't mentioned the iPhone Duo beyond passing words. Because of limited TV time or by design, the Duo comes off as small print in tech specs or investor notes. Apple knows their market — Pros update at release and don't generally wait.
