The countdown appears directly on an album's page beneath the search bar, making pre-added albums more useful by providing a clear reminder of release timing.

The feature was discovered by pdfu on X, who found it hidden in Wednesday's iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2 beta releases. Currently accessible only behind a developer flag, the countdown functionality remains in testing with no confirmed public rollout date.

Apple released the iOS 27.2 beta on September 16, which also introduces a redesigned Health app with Apple Intelligence-powered insights, expanded Siri AI localization to five additional languages, and dual-camera capture for group FaceTime calls. The countdown feature aims to enhance anticipation for highly anticipated album releases across the streaming platform.
