Google Chrome drops macOS Monterey support

Google will stop supporting macOS Monterey with Chrome after July 2026. The final compatible version is Chrome 150; Chrome 151 will require macOS Ventura or newer. While existing installations will keep running, they won't receive any security updates, leaving users exposed to unpatched vulnerabilities.

This move aligns with Google's typical browser support policy, which often mirrors Apple's own OS lifecycle. It pressures users on older hardware to upgrade, but many Macs made before 2018 can't officially run Ventura. This creates a security dilemma for owners of these stranded machines.

Affected users should consider switching browsers or using tools like the OpenCore Legacy Patcher to extend their Mac's life. The broader trend is clear: software vendors are accelerating the end of support for older operating systems, forcing hardware upgrades sooner than many users expect.
