Google’s Android chief Sameer Samat testified the company aims to ship its first Aluminium‑based PCs to trusted testers by late 2026, with a full retail launch projected for 2028. The new hardware is positioned to replace ChromeOS in enterprise and education markets, where Chromebooks have long dominated low‑cost computing.

Chromebooks, launched in 2009 with the Cr‑48, have become staples in schools and budget offices, but Google promises only ten years of support per hardware platform, ending with the 2023 models in 2033. As the Aluminium rollout proceeds, consumers should watch for migration tools and potential software gaps before the 2034 cutoff.
