Fake iPhone 18 Leak Exposed As Camera Protectors

The latest iPhone 18 color leak from a fake account impersonating former leaker Majin Bu has been exposed as nothing more than painted camera protectors. The fake account emerged after the original Majin Bu disappeared following an attempt to sell cases for an unreleased iPhone. Despite being clearly fraudulent, publications like 9to5Mac have shared the content, noting the account's potential fakery while still presenting it as a possible leak.

The deception was uncovered through a simple reverse image search revealing these components are identical to camera protectors that stick onto existing iPhone camera plateaus. Modern iPhones feature a unibody case design, making the camera cutout part of the main back panel rather than a separate component. The fake account has previously posted manipulated images and stolen content from other leakers, yet continues to receive coverage in tech media.

This incident highlights a growing problem of fake leaks gaining unwarranted attention in the tech press cycle. Despite AppleInsider calling out the obvious fakery with a "B#$&(*it" rumor score, the fake narrative still spreads. While the iPhone 18 Pro may indeed feature new colors including a deep wine red, consumers should remain skeptical of component leaks from unverified sources.
