Disney Uses Apple Vision Pro to Revamp EPCOT's Soarin' Ride

Disney Imagineers turned to the Apple Vision Pro to redesign EPCOT's classic flight attraction for the United States' 250th birthday. The ride, formerly known as Soarin', now operates as Soarin' Across America, guiding guests over iconic U.S. landscapes instead of global vistas. A behind‑the‑scenes video released through Disney Unscripted shows the mixed‑reality workflow that replaced traditional scaffolding.

Audio teams wore the headset while mixing a new soundtrack and sound effects, creating a virtual workspace that linked directly to the ride’s flight simulator seats. Senior Sound Editor Megan Duncan explained that the headset’s spatial interface allowed the team to meet an accelerated schedule without building physical rigs. The setup required only the Vision Pro, a custom desk, and standard mixing gear, streamlining a process that usually demands extensive hardware.

The revamped attraction opened at Walt Disney World this week and is slated for a July 2 debut at Disneyland. The collaboration underscores the headset’s growing role in professional production, echoing its recent use in medical settings. Disney’s adoption signals that mixed‑reality tools can cut costs and speed delivery for large‑scale entertainment projects.
