Mac gamers can now run several high-profile Windows titles natively thanks to the release of CrossOver 26. The compatibility layer update immediately enables games like "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" and "HellDivers 2" on macOS, removing a significant barrier for Apple users wanting to play blockbuster releases without cloud streaming or dual-boot setups.

This release is built on Wine 11, which contributes over 6,000 individual changes to improve application and game compatibility. CodeWeavers also integrated D3DMetal 3.0 for better DirectX translation, DXMT v0.72, Wine Mono 10.4.1, and vkd3d 1.18. For users on the latest macOS Tahoe, the interface received specific tweaks, and a bug preventing Steam from relaunching after shutdown was fixed.

The update resolves launch issues for a long list of games, including "Borderlands 4," "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth," "Kingdom Come: Deliverance II," and "Starfield." CrossOver 26 requires macOS 10.15 Catalina or later, with a special note for Tahoe users who must use version 25.1.1 or higher. The software is available now for $54.76 for a one-year support subscription, a price that will increase to $74 on February 17th.
