Boox Go 10.3 Gen II Review: Better Android, Worse Stylus

Boox has released the Go 10.3 Gen II, its 10.3-inch e-ink tablet that sits between a Kindle and an iPad in terms of functionality. The refresh brings Android 15 (upgraded from Android 13) but makes a controversial change: the first-generation's Wacom EMR stylus has been replaced with a capacitive Inksense stylus. The tablet features a 300ppi (2480x1860) HD ePaper display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 3700 mAh battery.

The device supports an extensive range of document formats including PDF, EPUB, and DOCX, with access to the Google Play Store for productivity applications. Its 10.3-inch display closely matches standard paper dimensions, making it ideal for document markup and reading. The Lumi edition includes a front light with adjustable color temperatures, while the standard model omits this feature—reportedly optimized for outdoor use. Battery life is solid, easily lasting several days even with front light enabled.

The stylus downgrade is the main disappointment here. While the Inksense still offers 4,096 levels of pressure, it lacks the buttery-smooth EMR experience from the previous generation. With only 64GB of storage and no microSD expansion, users loading productivity apps or audiobooks may hit limits. The included faux suede folio also feels cheaper than expected, with weaker magnets. This device works best for reading and note-taking rather than as a full iPad replacement.
