ChatGPT's iPhone app now includes a new gesture to attach recent photos faster. Users can long-press the + button to see their four most recent images and select one directly.

The feature was announced by OpenAI's Adam Fry on August 21, 2026, alongside other updates like improved time awareness, faster loading for long conversations on the web, and clearer UI when waiting for an internet connection.

Previously, attaching a photo required tapping the + button, then "Photos," then selecting from the library. This shortcut streamlines visual search workflows for users who rely on ChatGPT for image-based queries.

The update is part of OpenAI's weekly feature drops and enhances the mobile experience for iOS users without requiring Visual Intelligence, which remains limited to newer iPhone models and regions.
