Apple's Siri Chatbot Plan for iOS 27

A new Bloomberg report claims Apple is developing Siri into a full chatbot interface to compete with ChatGPT. This rumor directly contradicts past statements from Apple SVP of marketing Greg Joswiak, who insisted the company's strategy was different from standalone chatbots.

The update is allegedly Apple's main focus for its fall 2027 software releases. It would launch across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, following a reveal at WWDC 2027. This aligns with earlier reports of Apple internally training two AI chatbots.

However, the report clarifies users won't get a new standalone app. Instead, Siri will retain its traditional summoning method but gain expanded functionality, like conversation memory. This approach aims to integrate AI seamlessly into the operating system rather than creating a separate destination.

This shift comes after Apple's delayed Apple Intelligence rollout and a partnership with Google Gemini for AI training. As the AI market matures, Apple's integrated, privacy-focused approach could offer a distinct alternative if executed well.
