Apple Seeks Dismissal of AI Delay Lawsuit as Frivolous

Apple has asked a court to dismiss a class action lawsuit led by South Korea's National Pension Service over alleged securities fraud related to Siri AI delays and Epic injunction compliance. The pension fund claims Apple's actions caused billions in stock market losses, but Apple argues both counts are unsubstantiated.

In its filing, Apple says there's no proof the company knew about AI feature delays when they were announced in 2024. The company also contends its response to the Epic injunction on anti-steering practices was made in good faith, with changes only deemed unsatisfactory later. Apple notes its stock price rose from $183 on May 3, 2024, to $272 today despite the alleged issues.

While Siri upgrades were delayed, Apple maintains no guarantees were ever made about release timing. The company points out iPhone sales remained strong regardless of AI feature availability. Regarding the Epic claims, Apple questions why it would intentionally provoke increased regulation over what it calls "pennies on the dollar." The pension fund's losses appear tied to broader market volatility rather than specific Apple actions.
