Apple May Set Aside Default Judgment Against Leaker Jon Prosser

Apple is seeking to reverse a default judgment against prominent leaker Jon Prosser, who failed to respond to the company's lawsuit alleging conspiracy to steal pre-release iOS information. The case stems from an incident where Prosser and Michael Ramacciotti allegedly accessed an Apple employee's test device, leading to Ethan Lipnik's termination.

Prosser's lack of response to the July 2025 lawsuit resulted in a default ruling in October 2025. However, after retaining counsel in April 2026, Prosser agreed to participate in discovery and deposition proceedings. Apple's legal team has filed documents supporting the reversal of the default judgment, pending Judge Donato's approval.

If the judge approves, Prosser's deposition will take place on June 16. The leaker has continued posting videos about Apple products during the legal proceedings, though recent content appears based on rumors rather than insider sources. Apple may pursue restrictions preventing Prosser from covering future Apple leaks if the case proceeds to resolution.

This case highlights Apple's aggressive approach to protecting unreleased product information while demonstrating the court system's willingness to allow defendants to comply with legal processes when they initially fail to respond.
