Apple may charge for Siri AI as service improves

Apple unveiled the beta version of Siri AI this week, offering free access but granting iCloud+ members higher daily usage caps. The assistant already handles voice queries, image generation and basic world‑knowledge tasks, and analysts note its performance surpasses the legacy Siri. Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter argues that this functional leap makes a paid model increasingly plausible, significant for consumers.

Industry chatter has long speculated about a subscription tier for Apple Intelligence, and the new report republishes those 2024 forecasts. It predicts that within twelve months Siri AI will improve enough to attract a paying audience, prompting Apple to shift conversation and image‑generation features to a premium tier. iCloud+ already offers expanded limits, hinting at a gradual monetisation path.

Monetising Siri AI could also revive users who abandoned the original assistant while bolstering Apple One’s stagnant bundle. If Apple bundles Intelligence into its subscription, the company may offset the high costs of AI infrastructure such as Image Playground. Regardless of timing, the move would signal that Apple intends to extract revenue from its integrated AI services rather than keep them free.
