Samsung's Missing Gemini Gesture: How to Restore Swipe for Assistant

Samsung's latest Galaxy S26 series has dropped a favorite Gemini shortcut that many Android users rely on. The Swipe for Assistant gesture, which lets you invoke Google's AI assistant by swiping diagonally from the screen corner, is no longer available on Samsung devices. This feature has been standard on Pixels, OnePlus, and Motorola phones for years.

To restore this functionality, Samsung users can turn to the Good Lock app and its One Hand Operation + plugin. This free customization tool from Samsung lets you create virtual handles on either side of the screen that can trigger various actions. By setting up diagonal swipe gestures within these handles, you can effectively recreate the missing Gemini trigger.

The workaround isn't perfect since the handles don't extend all the way to the corners, but with some practice, the gesture works reliably. Many users prefer this method over Samsung's default long-press power button trigger for Gemini, which has replaced the traditional power-off function. The author argues this change forces awkward two-button combinations for powering down phones and represents an unnecessary disruption to established smartphone behavior.
