Nyrius Aries Pro+ Review: Wireless HDMI That Actually Works

The Nyrius Aries Pro+ solves a problem I didn't know I had until I needed it. With three HDMI ports already occupied on my TV by a Shield TV Pro, soundbar, and PS5, running a long cable from my office to the living room became impractical after moving to a new house. The $249 wireless HDMI dongle bridges that gap admirably.

The system consists of a transmitter that connects to your source device and a receiver that plugs into your TV. It streams 1080p video with impressively low latency, and while Nyrius advertises 165 feet of range, real-world use through walls delivers closer to 70 feet—still plenty for most home setups. Setup is genuinely plug-and-play: connect both units, select the right HDMI input, and you're ready to go.

For travelers, the Aries Pro+ works well for mirroring a laptop to hotel TVs, though some artifacting appears during gaming. The main drawback is the aging USB Mini-B power connection instead of USB-C, which feels dated. Despite the premium price and older design, it remains the best wireless HDMI solution for those needing to connect devices across different rooms.
