Google Tests Pastel Colors for Search Interface

Latest from Android Central •

Google is testing a new 'Color your Search' feature that adds subtle pastel hues to the Search interface. Users can choose from ten muted color options that apply to the top bar and overall theme. This marks a shift from the traditionally white or dark grey design.

Currently, the colorful interface appears limited to large-screen devices like tablets and foldables, not regular smartphones or desktops. The feature was spotted by 9to5Google and offers a way to personalize the search experience without a full redesign, making it feel less sterile.

It's unclear when or if Google will roll this out widely. The test could align with Android's Material 3 Expressive design, potentially allowing automatic system color matching in the future. Broader availability seems likely if testing on large screens proves successful.
