Google Photos is rolling out a new feature called "Video Remix," which uses AI to let users alter their videos. Similar to existing photo remixing tools, this allows for changes to lighting, themes, styles, and backgrounds. Users can select from templates or provide custom prompts, such as transforming a street scene into a greenhouse or imagining a scenario on the moon.

This new capability is powered by Google's Gemini Omni model. The feature becomes available starting today, July 8, for eligible subscribers of Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra. Initial rollout is limited to specific countries including the U.S., Mexico, India, and South Korea.

The Video Remix feature expands on Google Photos' existing AI-powered creative tools, which previously included photo-to-video transformations and a "Remix" option for still images. Google TV also received a similar AI-driven slideshow feature. The move signals Google's continuing effort to integrate generative AI into its consumer products for easier content creation and sharing.
