Google Maps has introduced a limited-time McLaren F1 car avatar to celebrate the United States Grand Prix. Available until November 23, 2026, users can select the vehicle by navigating to Settings > Your vehicles > Driving avatar in the app. The feature appears to be a server-side rollout, as some users report seeing it on iPhone while others on Pixel devices have not yet accessed it.
This customization option allows drivers to replace the standard blue arrow with various vehicle types, including sports cars. The McLaren F1 avatar mirrors the actual car's design and will disappear from the selection menu after the expiration date. Google Maps users can personalize their navigation experience with this special edition icon tied to the racing event.
