Google Hotel Price Tracking Gets Summer Update

Google is rolling out a summer update to its hotel price tracking feature, making it more customizable for both mobile and desktop users. The update, announced on April 17, allows users to search for specific hotels by name and track price changes for individual properties, receiving email alerts when rates change significantly during their chosen dates.

This enhancement builds on Google's previous hotel discovery tools, which initially tracked prices across all hotels in a destination city. Last year, Google integrated Gemini AI to help users find cheap hotels and affordable activities. The new feature gives travelers more precise control, letting them monitor their preferred hotels rather than receiving notifications about any price drops in a city.

Users can access the tracking toggle after searching for a hotel on desktop or by tapping the "Prices" option on Android devices. The update also arrives on google.com/hotels, complementing other summer travel features like AI Mode's booking capabilities and Agentic Booking for restaurant reservations. This targeted approach to price tracking should appeal to travelers who have specific hotel preferences, eliminating the clutter of irrelevant price alerts while focusing on properties they actually want to book.
