Galaxy Z Fold 8 likely skips S Pen support

Rumors suggest the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 will ship without S Pen support. Samsung dropped the feature on the previous Galaxy Z Fold 7 to shave the chassis down to 8.99 mm, a move that required eliminating the display‑side digitizer. Without that layer, pressure sensitivity and palm‑rejection for the proprietary stylus disappear, leaving only basic passive tips viable for power users and multitaskers alike.

The digitizer adds a thin glass sheet that reads stylus input, but it also adds bulk. Samsung’s drive for a slimmer foldable meant sacrificing that capability, and without an internal pen slot users must lug a separate S Pen Pro or Fold Edition, usually in a bulkier case. Motorola’s Razr Fold, by contrast, ships with stylus support built‑in.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will likely launch without any S Pen integration, leaving only passive tips viable. Consumers who prioritize a stylus will need to stick with older foldables like the Z Fold 6 or pivot to devices that retain pen support, such as the upcoming S26 Ultra. As of the current rumor cycle, the Z Fold 7 remains Samsung’s top foldable offering.
