After a year with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, it remains slightly underrated despite living in the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026's shadow. The flip phone's 188 grams and 13.7mm folded thickness undercut the Razr, and its rectangular shape feels more premium than Motorola's curvy design. The IP48 certification and sturdy hinge make it the best-built foldable in North America.

The cover screen software is still disappointing. Flex Window is more limited than the Razr's and even regressed from the Galaxy Z Flip 6 — widgets now require opening the phone, and max widget size is 2x2. Running One UI 8.5, the experience hasn't improved.

The 6.9-inch folding display's 68.6mm width delivers a near-slab experience with 120Hz and 2,600 nits brightness. However, the camera sensors are lackluster: a 50MP main and 12MP ultrawide trail Motorola's dual 50MP setup. One UI 8.5 is superb, and the 7-year software support guarantee outpaces the Razr's three OS upgrades.

Battery life and charging lag behind: 4,300mAh with 25W wired and no Qi2 magnets. Even with the Galaxy Z Flip 8 arriving, the Flip 7 remains solid for design, performance, and build quality, though cover screen, camera, and battery show their age.
