Galaxy S26 Production Surge: Samsung Boosts Output After Record Demand

Samsung is scrambling to meet unexpected demand for its Galaxy S26 series by boosting production across multiple models. According to ZDNet Korea, the company is increasing April output for the Galaxy S26 Ultra by 200,000 units to reach 1.5 million total, while the base Galaxy S26 sees the largest jump of 500,000 units to 1.3 million.

The Galaxy S26 Plus is getting the opposite treatment, with production cut by 100,000 units to approximately 200,000 for April. Samsung is also reportedly reducing output for mid-range models like the Galaxy A57 and A17 by several hundred thousand units. This production shift comes after March pre-orders exceeded expectations, forcing the company to play catch-up.

The Ultra's popularity makes sense given its Privacy Display feature and major upgrades including better cameras, thinner build, and more one-handed-friendly design at the same price as last year's model. Meanwhile, the S26 Plus sits awkwardly between models without the Ultra's new features or the base model's compact size advantage. Industry watchers note this demand surge mirrors similar patterns seen with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, suggesting strong consumer appetite for Samsung's premium offerings despite economic headwinds.
