Fairphone and Murena have partnered to launch the Fairphone Gen 6 Plus, featuring Murena's privacy-focused /e/OS built on Android. The device emphasizes sustainability with 12 replaceable parts, a five-year warranty, and five years of software updates extending support into 2033. Priced at $699, the Gen 6 Plus introduces a new Cobalt Blue color option alongside existing Forest Green and Horizon Black variants.

The Gen 6 Plus builds on its predecessor, the Fairphone Gen 6 released in June 2025, with enhanced repairability and longevity. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and comes equipped with 12GB of RAM. The phone aims to counteract economic pressures by extending device lifespan and promoting modular design.

Murena's /e/OS stands out as a fully open-source alternative to Google's Android, claiming not to collect user data without transparency. The OS includes an Advanced Privacy widget, allowing users to manage data collection by third-party apps. Murena Backup, a new cloud-based solution, launches with the Gen 6 Plus and integrates with Murena Workspace accounts. The /e/OS 4 update, released in June, introduced one-click migration tools from Google services.
