Google has officially wrapped up testing for Android 16 QPR3, releasing the final build to developers. The company confirmed that Android 17 beta testing will begin soon, marking a rapid development cycle for the mobile operating system. This transition comes just as Google completes the quarterly platform release for Android 16.

Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1, carrying build number CP11.251209.009.A1, is now available for compatible Pixel phones. The update ranges from 100 MB to 123 MB depending on the device model, which is notably large for a minor 0.1 version. While Google hasn't detailed the specific fixes in this build, beta program members can download it through Settings > System > Software updates.

Google announced on Reddit's r/android_beta that Android 16 QPR3 testing has concluded and that it's preparing for the Android 17 Platform Release, internally referred to as 26Q2. Users enrolled in the Android 16 QPR3 beta will automatically transition to the Android 17 beta program without needing to re-enroll. Though Google hasn't shared an exact start date, the company expects to begin Android 17 testing soon, with the Android 16 QPR3 stable rollout anticipated in early March 2026.
