Technically, Google only releases one major Android version per year – this year it was Android 17. However, the company also works on Quarterly Platform Releases (QPRs) that it serves to Pixel devices and as AOSP images. Yesterday, Google rolled out Android 17 QPR 1 Beta 8 to Pixels and now Android 17 QPR 2 Beta 2.

Strangely, the release notes make no mention of what has changed since QPR 2 Beta 1. Below you can find the changelog for QPR 2 Beta 1. If you want to try out Beta 2 on your phone, you can join the Android Beta Program. OTA updates are available for the following models: Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 8, Pixel 10, and many others.

The changelog for QPR 2 Beta 1 lists several fixes: Bluetooth re‑pairing fails silently, media player controls flash on lock screen, system crash when invoking Gemini, drag‑and‑drop gesture stops touch events, notifications become invisible, ML‑DSA key generation fails, accessibility node info logs wrong bounds, window‑level UI blur fails, and the blur toggle resets after reboot. These were addressed in Beta 2.
