X is launching XChat, its standalone messaging app, this Friday on the App Store. The iPhone and iPad app was originally scheduled for April 17th but has been pushed to April 24th. It allows users to chat privately with anyone on the platform in what X describes as "a focused space built for conversation."

The app sets itself apart by excluding ads and tracking entirely. All messaging uses end-to-end encryption, and users can block screenshots, send disappearing messages, hold group chats, and make video calls. The App Store listing shows a detailed icon preview of the design. XChat has been in testing since last year.

The launch represents X's push into the competitive messaging space dominated by WhatsApp, iMessage, and Telegram. Users can pre-order the app from the App Store ahead of Friday's release. This marks a significant expansion of X's ecosystem beyond its core social media platform.
