WhatsApp Liquid Glass Redesign Rolls Out to Mac

WhatsApp is now rolling out its Liquid Glass redesign to its Mac app, aligning it with the iPhone and iPad versions. This update, which began testing on iOS last October and saw a wider rollout two months ago, brings a redesigned sidebar, updated chat bar, and attachment menu elements to the Mac.

The Mac app's latest update also introduces dedicated sidebar sections for locked chats and communities. Locked chats now require authentication before access, mirroring the iPhone experience, while communities are directly accessible from the sidebar. This update aims to close the design gap between desktop and mobile applications.

WhatsApp has been working towards this design consistency for nearly a year. The Liquid Glass redesign was first released on iPhone, followed by iPad, and now Mac is catching up, adopting the same design language. As with previous WhatsApp rollouts, the new interface is initially available to a limited number of users and is expected to become more widely available in the coming weeks.
