Spotify expands library pinning to 20 items

Spotify has expanded its library pinning limit from 4 items to 20 items, responding to years of user feedback. The change rolled out globally on July 8, 2026, for both free and premium subscribers.

The update follows Apple Music's introduction of pinning last summer with iOS 26, which capped pinned items at six. Spotify's 20-item limit significantly exceeds that, allowing users to pin artists, albums, playlists, and other content for quick access.

The company announced the change via its official X account, framing it as a direct response to user requests for more flexibility in Your Library. This follows Spotify's recent "disco ball icon fix" — another small but visible response to community feedback.

While pinning limits may seem minor, they affect daily navigation for heavy users managing large libraries. Spotify's willingness to ship small, requested quality-of-life improvements contrasts with its occasional major UI overhauls that draw criticism. The 20-item ceiling should cover most power users, though it remains to be seen whether the company will eventually remove the cap entirely.
