Samsung is reportedly accelerating the launch of its Galaxy Z Trifold 2 in direct response to Apple's iPhone Duo, according to aggregated reports from Chinese social media. The Korean company has shown clear concern about the iPhone Duo's impact on its foldable lineup, particularly after Apple addressed a key Samsung weakness: dust resistance. While Samsung's latest foldables carry only an IP48 rating—vulnerable to particles as large as a grain of sand—the iPhone Duo achieves IP68, making it fully dustproof.

Samsung previously criticized the iPhone Duo's reported weight before launch, signaling early anxiety. The rush is notable given the original Galaxy Z Trifold's poor performance; it debuted in the US in January at $2,900 and was discontinued within three months amid rumors it sold at a loss. The Trifold 2 is expected to carry a similar price point.

Samsung appears to be betting that a dual-fold design can compete where its single-fold models have struggled against Apple's build quality advantages.
