Parallels MacBook Neo Compatibility Status Update

Parallels has not yet confirmed whether its virtualization software works with Apple's new MacBook Neo. The company stated that support has not been officially verified as of March 5. MacBook Neo uses Apple's A18 Pro chip, which is ARM-based but not part of the M-series family.

This creates uncertainty about hardware virtualization support. Parallels Desktop typically runs ARM-based virtual machines through hardware virtualization support on M-series chips. While the A18 Pro shares ARM architecture, the engineering team has not verified if it provides the required virtualization capabilities.

Another consideration is the MacBook Neo's 8GB RAM configuration. While this affects performance rather than compatibility, it stands out since Apple raised the minimum to 16GB across new Macs in 2024. The $599 price tag makes this memory limitation more notable for potential buyers considering virtualization needs.
