MacWhisper 14, an AI-powered transcription app for Mac developed by indie developer Jordi Bruin, has been released with significant updates. The app allows users to transcribe audio, video, meetings, and system audio locally using AI models such as OpenAI's Whisper and Nvidia's Parakeet.

The latest version introduces a redesigned transcript editor, enabling users to edit transcripts directly, add paragraphs more easily, reassign speakers faster, and favorite transcript sections. Bruin highlighted that version 14.1 has already been released with fixes for the new editor and added Gladia as a new cloud transcription provider.

MacWhisper 14 also features an updated AI services screen, improved AI models, better playback for multiple transcripts, and enhanced transcript windows. Specific improvements have been made for Deepgram, including region selection and filler word controls. Cloud transcription uploads now avoid loading entire files into memory, and various bug fixes address issues like menu bar position and CPU usage. MacWhisper Pro users can update to version 14 at no extra cost, with a 14% discount currently offered for Pro upgrades.
