Apple has seeded macOS 26.4 Release Candidate to developers and public beta testers, confirming six new features for Mac users. The update includes eight new emoji such as an orca, trombone, landslide, ballet dancer, and distorted face now available in the emoji keyboard.

Safari gains a compact tab bar option that provides more browsing space and allows direct searching from the active tab. Freeform receives advanced image creation and editing tools along with a premium content library, joining Apple Creator Studio. Users can now mark reminders as urgent using a keyboard shortcut and filter for urgent reminders in Smart Lists.

Family Sharing gets a significant upgrade with Purchase Sharing, allowing adult members to use their own payment methods without relying on the family organizer. Subtitle and caption settings become easier to find when viewing media, with real-time preview available directly from the captions icon. With the Release Candidate now available, macOS 26.4 is expected to launch to all users as early as next week.
