MacBook Pro redesign may mirror upcoming MacBook Ultra design

Apple appears to be planning a design overhaul for its entry-level MacBook Pro that would bring it closer to the rumored MacBook Ultra aesthetic. According to Bloomberg, the 14-inch model code-named K104 could launch in the first half of next year with a slimmer form factor similar to what's expected on the high-end touchscreen variant.

The MacBook Ultra is expected to differentiate itself with an OLED screen, touchscreen capability, Dynamic Island, and lighter design. Historically, Apple reserves major design shifts for flagship models, making this potential crossover unusual. The MacBook Pro typically receives modest iterative updates rather than dramatic redesigns.

However, the move makes strategic sense given competitive pressures. Other laptop manufacturers already offer sleeker designs at comparable price points, putting pressure on Apple to modernize its entire lineup. Apple also recognizes that many Mac users prefer traditional input methods and may skip the touchscreen Ultra entirely.

The report suggests the entry-level MacBook Pro will share design DNA with the Ultra rather than be identical to it. This positions Apple to refresh its mainstream laptop while preserving enough distinction to maintain upgrade pathways across its product hierarchy.
