iRacing will bring Apple Vision Pro users an unprecedented racing experience this week with the visionOS 26.4 update. The platform's president Tony Gardner promises a level of immersion and fidelity never before seen in sim racing, leveraging foveated streaming technology to deliver razor-sharp visuals where drivers need them most.

Foveated streaming enables iRacing to render the highest quality graphics directly in the driver's line of sight while blending the virtual cockpit with real-world elements. Using ARKit, the racing simulator seamlessly integrates with physical racing hardware, allowing users to see their hands on the wheel within the virtual environment. This creates a uniquely immersive experience that maintains visual connection to the racing rig.

The technical implementation relies on CloudXR technology, with physics calculations and graphic rendering handled by PCs equipped with NVIDIA RTX GPUs. Frames are wirelessly transmitted to iRacing Connect on visionOS via Wi-Fi, creating a low-latency experience. Beyond iRacing, the visionOS 26.4 update also brings X-Plane compatibility to Apple Vision Pro for the first time.
