iPhone 18 Pro: Display Upgrades Incoming

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to feature display upgrades in two key areas. First, Apple is rumored to adopt LTPO+ technology, an advancement over current LTPO. This new tech extends oxide usage to driving TFTs, allowing for finer current control in OLEDs and enhanced optimization based on environmental conditions. Benefits include reduced screen flickering in low light and improved power efficiency, leading to better battery life.

Second, the upcoming models are anticipated to sport a reduced Dynamic Island cutout. This change is expected to slightly expand the usable screen space. The new cutout is rumored to be approximately 35% smaller than that on the iPhone 17 Pro, a size hinted at in iOS 27. Apple first introduced the Dynamic Island with the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022, and while its software features have evolved, the physical cutout has remained consistent until now. This move brings Apple closer to the goal of a cutout-free display.
