iOS 27 Camera App Gets Major Redesign

Apple's iOS 27 will bring significant camera interface improvements, allowing users to customize the Camera app layout. The controls toggle will move from the top right to beside the shutter button, letting users choose which features appear and where they're placed. This customization aims to better serve professionals with new advanced options.

The Photos app will gain three new AI-enhanced editing tools: Extend, Enhance, and Reframe. Extend generates content beyond the original frame, similar to Photoshop's generative fill. Enhance improves color and lighting, while Reframe shifts perspective of spatial photos after capture. Visual Intelligence will integrate directly into the Camera app via a new Siri mode.

However, Bloomberg reports that Extend and Reframe "don't perform reliably," potentially delaying or scaling back these features before public release. The company might unveil them at WWDC 2026 but could postpone implementation to later developer betas or iOS 27.1.
