iOS 26's Screenshot AI Turns Plain URLs Into Tappable Links

iOS 26 introduces a clever AI-powered screenshot feature that solves a persistent annoyance for iPhone users. The update uses visual intelligence to detect plain text URLs in screenshots and automatically converts them into tappable links, eliminating the tedious copy-paste process.

This functionality addresses a common frustration, particularly on platforms like Instagram where hyperlinks aren't permitted in captions or replies. Users frequently encounter either "Link in profile" instructions or unclickable URLs that require manual typing. With iOS 26, simply taking a screenshot of a URL now displays a clickable link at the bottom of the screen, accessible with a single tap.

The feature requires an AI-compatible iPhone, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 16, or iPhone 15 Pro models. By default, screenshots open directly to a fullscreen interface showing the tappable link. Users who prefer the iOS 18-style thumbnail can still access the feature by tapping the small preview in the corner to expand to fullscreen view.
